What is a food certificate for packaging?
The safety of packaging materials requires precise assessment to prevent their chemical substances from being transferred to foodstuffs. A food packaging certificate ensures that manufacturers comply with regulations and that materials are safe for food.
Among the materials covered by this type of certification are metals and their alloys, wood and its derivatives, used as storage objects.
Types of food certificates for packaging
The manufacture of packaging must comply with the regulations of the EC Regulations on materials intended to be in contact with food. With these certificates, the manufacturer declares that the marketed packaging is suitable for food use and complies with the following regulations:
- Regulation (EC) No. 450/2009 regulation (EC) No. 450/2009 on active and intelligent materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.
- Regulation (EC) 2023/2006 on good manufacturing practice for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.
