FSC quality seal

The FSC seal of approval is a Forest Certification (Chain of Custody) standard . A way to guarantee that the raw material comes from forests that are managed in a sustainable way.

What is the FSC seal?

This certification (Forest Stewardship Council) was created in the early 1990s in California. It was promoted by timber consumer and trading companies, environmental and human rights organizations, out of concern for a possible loss of forest cover. The objective was to promote a system in which well-managed forests could be clearly and credibly identified .

Behind this organization we find mainly Greenpeace and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

What kind of products can count on it?

Actually, any products made from paper and cardboard that follow the guidelines set by the association can be certified.

Types of FSC certifications

There are three types of FSC certifications:

• Forest Management Certification: awarded to forest managers and owners who present management practices that meet the organization’s requirements to the letter.
• Chain of Custody Certification: this certificate verifies that products with this label contain FSC-certified materials and controlled sources. This is the seal that you will find on our products.
• Controlled wood certification: guarantees that the wood mix respects the principles of the seal.

Who regulates the FSC seal?

The association itself, with the aim of carrying out voluntary evaluations of forestry companies or similar to promote economically viable, socially beneficial and environmentally sustainable forest management.

How useful is the FSC seal?

In addition to the quality standard it represents, it guarantees that the products bearing it come from forests exploited under codes of good practice and acceptable levels of responsible management.
